Sophia Jewell

As an artist, I express my "inner landscapes" in abstract pictures. I am a visual artist that expresses herself with mixed media. I use acrylic paints with found objects and other media.

I am largely a self-taught artist. I have attended art classes and workshops over the last 15 years. These include, but are not limited to, classes at the Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado; workshops sponsored by the Palette Club in Ogden, Utah as well as the Visual Arts Association in St. George, Utah. I also took classes sponsored by the Eccles Community Art Center in Ogden, Utah.

As a member of the Palette Club in Ogden, Utah for six years and as a board member for one year; I was proud to display and sell my work at various places in Ogden. My work has been shown at the Weber County Library, the Red Cross Building, the Eccles Community Art Center, and various city art fairs in Northern Utah. As a member of the Visual Arts Association here in St. George, UT; I have shown and sold my work at the Staircase Gallery and the Community Arts Community Center.

I am an artist who must paint. I am the author of my own unique system of self discovery. I am continually redefining my essence. My creative process takes me into the continuous questioning of who I am and what I want. This process is the essence of human nature at its best. This is life-enhancing for me as well as those who view and purchase art. My art, when shown, represents a mutually beneficial partnership between myself, as the artist, and those who connect with my art.
